Valley light with Abe and Vicky

Yosemite makes people look small. That's the point, and also the problem — a portrait still has to feel like the two of you, not a postcard with figures in it.

Abe and Vicky and I worked in the valley light. Granite, trees, a little walking, not much fuss. I kept them close more than I kept them scenic. The park is going to be in the frame either way.

I like Yosemite when we aren't racing the overlooks. A slower hour at the edge of the trees usually gives me more than a checklist of famous views. You can feel the air change. That's enough direction for most people.

I drive up from Turlock when the day calls for it. If you're thinking about an engagement or a few wedding portraits in the park, we can keep it simple — a time of day, a meeting spot, and clothes you can walk in.
