Wedding days that hold tradition and family
An Assyrian wedding—or any ethnic celebration rooted in family and faith—is not a shortened version of a standard wedding day. It has its own order: the people who need to be photographed, the moments that cannot be rushed, the music and food and ritual that make the day yours.
I photograph those days regularly. I am Steven Lelham, a photographer based in Turlock, California, and I work with couples and families who want the full celebration documented with care—not treated as an afterthought on a generic wedding page.

What I pay attention to
Ceremony and tradition
Whether the day includes a church ceremony, cultural rites, or both, I stay oriented to what matters in that space. Tell me what cannot be missed. I will plan coverage so those moments are protected.

Family
Large family groups, elders, and the people who traveled for the day are part of the story. I will help organize group photographs when you want them, and I will also watch for the quieter frames between relatives who may not all be in one place again soon.

The celebration
Receptions for these weddings are often full—dancing, food, speeches, and long stretches of joy. I photograph the energy and the details: tables, attire, the room as it fills, the moments between dances.

Assyrian weddings in the Central Valley and beyond
I am based in Turlock, close to Modesto and the wider Central Valley Assyrian community, and I travel throughout California for wedding days. Existing work includes celebrations and community events in this region as well as destination locations when the couple’s plans call for it.
If your day includes more than one venue, language, or tradition, say so when you inquire. We can build the photography around the real schedule.

Other ethnic and cultural weddings
Assyrian weddings are a large part of this work, and I also photograph other ethnic and cultural celebrations where family, faith, and tradition shape the day. The approach is the same: learn what matters, stay present, and make photographs that feel like your people—not a template.
